Singapore has a fascinating culture. The official language is Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and English. You are about to know some things you probably did not even know about Singapore. It led me to learn and know more about the people in Singapore. It is in Southeast Asia. A city-state that has 63 smaller islands. They are in love with Toilets.

In Singapore, there is what you call Toilet Day on November 19. You cannot flush public toilets in Singapore because it is against the law.

Singapore males have to serve in Singapore military for 1-2 years if he is born in Singapore. You cannot chew gum in Singapore unless for medical purposes.

If a police see you with gum, well, you might be in trouble.

On the fun side, Singapore has the world’s second-highest Observation Wheel, which is called Singapore Wheel. Another one, Singapore Grand Prix Racing Circuits is the first in Singapore; and it is where the first F1 Night Race. It was held at 2008 Inaugural F1 Race.

People in Singapore love food, and they are the creator of food courts. I mean, in Singapore you can find Sannakji or Live Octopus, Crocodile Paws, and Fish Sperms or Milt. Interesting food in Singapore that people would not know much about if you did not live or visit Singapore. These dishes are served in restaurants. They love food so much that every day in Singapore, two new restaurants are opened. Cars, cash, credit cards, condominiums, and country clubs are what runs the country of Singapore. Those Big Kings makes the success of Singapore.

If you happen to like Orchid Garden well Singapore has the world largest tropical orchid garden, which is Singapore Botanic Gardens.

In addition, Singapore is the ideal place for kids. Singapore kids are the smartest; they are top of the line intelligence in Math and Science.

Children and plants are the centerpieces for the people of Singapore. The Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden (the first Asian Garden) in Singapore was dedicated to the Kids of Singapore.

The Singapore Zoo, which is a tropical paradise, is top 5 in the world; and you know kids love zoos. Singapore also has thrill rides like MegaZip or the Flying Bat of Sentosa Islands. There is also Merlion, the National Icon of Singapore. Kids will love it. Merlion is half-lion and half-fish sort of like a mermaid.

In Singapore, children have their own day where they are appreciated. October 1st is for kids below 12 and in July, well, the first Sunday in July is Youth Day for teenagers. Singapore is for kids, as you see. Kids will definitely love this country.

Tradition in Singapore starts from the Singapore Art Festival which is celebrated every June; that display art talents of the local and overseas artist.

Annual Night Festival in late August that is full of beauty. Independence Day is on August 9th. It is a big festival with kids from the choir performing in the festival. Music, food, entertainment and lots of variety of colorful things like clothing, art and much more.

The Independence Day displays the meaning of the Singaporean Flag, which is a democracy, progress, justice, peace, and equality. All those are displayed in the Independence Festival.

With tradition, there is also music. Singapore like Folk and Tribal music, Rock’N’Roll, and Pop music. They also like Metal Bands such as native Singaporean bands like The Corruptor, Hella Morrigan, Chaos Aftermath, and Kuliyuga.

Sing picSingapore has a lot to offer. I mean, children are the future in Singapore and the way Singaporeans celebrate the kids over there shows it. Singaporeans love food and they have creative ways of making their food. Singaporeans are one smart and creative people. Singapore is a good place for tourists. The food I mention, their culture and traditions are good enough to check out the country. Singapore, a country of hope and improvement. Beautiful View out there, as I noticed.

Didn’t know about Japanese liking Karaoke and Pop music as a form of music; at least the younger generation in Japan. Kayo-kyoku is the mainstream pop genre of Japan and said to be the base of the modern J-pop. Most Kayo-kyoku singers use the traditional Japanese pronunciations instead of the stylized English pronunciations. Oh yeah! Rock music. Japanese rock music to be exact, just ask the Japanese band, Happy End, how much Japanese love Japanese rock music. They are well known in Japan. I listened to their songs. They are good. I might not know what they are saying, but if you know about music you can tell good music when you hear it. You know a song good when you’re nodding your head. They have a different flow to their music.

Aomori Nebuta Festival, a Japanese festival in early August in Aomori City in Japan. Aomori Nebuta Festival is a display of virtuoso artwork of illustrious ancient and fictional Japanese personality. The Cherry Blossom Festivals or Hanami is similar to a picnic party where you eat and drink it is held in the springtime all around Japan. It is a Cherry Blossom scenery. It is like a party from what I have seen. People enjoying themselves. Cherry Blossom Festival is around April 23-May 5 of the year. They do Cherry Blossom Festival in the USA Washington DC, to be exact. Why is there..well, back in the day (LOL) in the 1900’s. GREENLAND

greenland5.png

Greenland is unique because of the diversity of the culture there and their fashion style is made from animal’s skin. Greenland is in the Kingdom of Denmark. What I didn’t know is that, it is the largest island in the world which is not a continent. Remarkably, approximately 81% of Greenland is surrounded by ice. One more thing, Greenland has the second largest ice sheet on the planet beside guess who…Antarctica’s Ice Sheet, that’s a story for another day. The heavy weight of the ice sheet is the reason why Iceland is 300 meters below sea level. They have 4 different time zones and the country’s capital is Nuuk, which is among the planet smallest capital. Nuuk is known as godthab, which translate as good hope.

greenland1The ethnic group in Greenland is mostly dominated by a group called Inuit or you can call them Eskimo. Eskimo are the indigenous group of the Arctic Region. Greenlandic and Danish are the language spoken there and of course, Kalaallisut is the main language of Greenlandic. Greenlandic is the native language to say. If you didn’t know Greenland like I didn’t, you will learn it has 4 different municipals in which are coat of arms with different logos on their shield. The 4 Municipals are: Kujalleq, Qaasuitsup, Qeqqata and Sermersooq. Kujalleq is in Southern tip of Greenland and it is a sheep farming area. Sheep farming is vital to the economy of Kujalleq. Qeqqata is in Western Greenland. Qaasuitsup is in the Northwestern Greenland and it is simply the largest city in the world by area. Sermerssoq is in South Central and Eastern Greenland and it is the second largest city in the world by area. Sermersooq is the homeland to Greenland’s capital, Nuuk.

Greenland’s National Holiday called Ullortuneq. It is on the 21st June, greenland2so there are festivals with music, food and lots of entertainment. It is the longest day of the year. The Greenland Day is a way to symbolize cultural value and national identity. This day is filled with traditional activities and outdoor activities. You may see Islanders in their Greenland traditional clothes and lots of singing. Entertainment involves going to church, folk dances, football games, Greenlandic food festival, Kayaking and of course lots of music. Sounds like a lot of fun for a day! Greenland is the place where I know people are having the most fun. Long day for sure, long fun day.

Greenland’s Music and Food are based on the Eskimo and Danish traditions. A combination of both Eskimo and Danish traditions; like for instance, the Greenland music is a combination of Eskimo and Danish traditions. The drum dance is one of the main traditional dance in Greenland. So you can imagine the festival in Greenland is filled with music, meat and fish; since that consist of the food they eat there. Hunting and fishing are a must to live in Greenland, because that is how you survive. I mean, Greenland people eats whale and Kiviak, which is fermented seal. I would like to taste whales and seals, to be honest… hmm, a big chunk of it! LOL. I can tell Greenland people are one tough people hunting whales and seals. Viking Inuit is a part of what makes Greenland customary in Greenland. The two words Viking Inuit is self-explanatory, I suppose. Greenland is a country I would like to visit one day because of the mystery and how their creative style in every aspect of their lives.

I had to be careful in how I put words together when talking about the Greenland people. I mean you have to respect every culture. I want to make sure what I am saying are correct which they are. I would like to meet a them because I know it would be an insightful conversation — full of knowledge. If you are a “Greenlander” or know more about Greenland and you are reading this, please comment below. I would love to learn more about them. What I learned about them so far, am sure most people do not know about it which is why I am sharing it. I didn’t know about it till I started learning about the Eskimos.

Want to learn more. Keep learning. Brainy Versatility.
